There is no War in Iraq. There is no War in Afghanistan. They are but two battlefields in a greater war, The Long War, and despite what others would have you believe:
When the enemy meets us on the field of battle, we kick their A**!
Whew, long weekend. Graduation, Mother's day, and hunting terrorists on YouTube...
Here is some B-roll footage from an Aerial Weapons Team to get us started off this week. Runs 1:31.
Multi-National Division Baghdad UAV Observes AWT Engage Rock
B-roll of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle which killed two criminals and wounded four. Scenes include the UAV tracking the criminals that were moving rocket rails from one site to an alley where the AWT engaged the criminals in the building with three Hellfire missiles.
This strike took place on May 4, 2008. These three guys must be part of the 18 sent to their virgins recently in Sadr City. The mahdi army is just taking a beating.
...US and Iraqi forces have inflicted heavy casualties on the Mahdi Army in Sadr City and surrounding neighborhoods since the fighting broke out in Baghdad on March 25. According to US and Iraqi reports compiled by The Long War Journal, 502 Mahdi Army fighters have been killed in and around Sadr City. These numbers do not include Mahdi Army fighters who may have died after being wounded in the fighting...
That makes a whopping 36,144 virgins used up by the mahdi army alone. Whew, how are they ever going to keep up.
Aerial Weapons Team Strikes Insurgents
B-roll of a Multi-National Division Baghdad aerial weapons team that killed three criminals and destroyed a rocket rail being used by criminals to launch indirect-fire attacks in the Sadr City district of Baghdad . An aerial weapons team conducting surveillance identified a group of criminals preparing to launch an indirect-fire attack in the Sadr City district of Baghdad. Scenes include the criminals setting up the rocket and then being destroyed by two hellfire missiles.
At least 216 virgins served up in this little engagement.
Hellfire vs Rocket Team
Predator takes out insurgents observed firing rockets at a Coalition base. Notice secondary explosions from other rockets stored in the vehicle cooking off.
They just don't get it. I guess during training they forgot to mention that we see EVERYTHING. You can run, but you can't hide. and...If you and three terrorist buddies are running, make sure not to win the race.
Runs 1:13 MND-B Soldiers Kill Two Terrorists
B-roll of Soldiers using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to fire a hellfire missile and kill two armed terrorists. Scenes include footage taken from the UAV of terrorists with weapons attacking Iraqi Security and Coalition Forces and the explosion of the missile.
Standing on a street corner with an RPG launcher may not be the best idea. Standing by a guy carrying an RPG? Defiantly not healthy. Do you still get your virgins for being stupid? Maybe to conserve virgins they will only get half. Runs 1:14.
B-Roll video UAV Kills 6 Heavily Armed Criminals
B-Roll of Coalition forces from Multi-National Division – Baghdad operating an unmanned aerial vehicle observed a large group of criminals with rocket-propelled grenade launchers and a mortar tube in northeast Baghdad at approximately 9:30 p.m. April 10. The UAV fired a Hellfire missile killing six heavily armed criminals at approximately 9:45 p.m.
Here we have a MQ-1 Predator hunting a mortar team. The Hellfire hits their truck and one guy escapes. To bad for him, this hunter had backup. The jihadi shelters in a ravine which an A-10 promptly rakes with 30mm Gatling gun fire.
Hellfire Vs Mortar Team
Predator and A-10 team up to take out insurgent mortar team trying to escape
Do you suppose this is live? Is this some live BDA of a predator raining Hellfire on some insurgents, with audio from the operational side? Probably not, but if so... How cool!
US Marines call in a hellfire to take out insurgents in a building
The US Army's 1/506th infantry 101st airborne division call in a hellfire to take out insurgents in a building in Ramadi, Iraq. You can actually see one of these insurgents fly out of the building when its hit. leaked by: Dronetek
Sure looks like body parts flying off to the left to me. I love how the operators wait until the other terrorist walks up to the car, then blam Hellfire up the tail pipe. US Air Force UAV Predator Engage Insurgents - Iraq
The largely silent predator hunts for jihadists from as high as 25,000 feet, and is responsible for making a number of high value, "perishable" targets disappear. It is armed with two AGM-114 hellfire missiles carrying 20 lb warheads.
Its bigger, faster brother the MQ-9 Reaper hunts the skies of Afghanistan, and will soon be in Iraq. Deployed only in October of 2007 news on the Reaper is scarce. There was a confirmed hit on a group of enemy motorcycles from February 24th. The reaper is armed with a combination of Hellfires and GBU-12 laser guided and GBU-38 GPS guided bombs. It can carry payloads up to 3,750lbs (1,701kgs). That amounts to four Hellfires and 2 GBU-12s or GBU-38s. That's a whole lot'a butt kicking there. Can't wait to see video.
Anyway, here we have a predator catching a terrorist in the act. Keep in mind, the footage released to the public is low-res and compressed. It's hard to tell what the guy is really doing, but you can be sure they saw exactly what was going on. They don't release the high-res images for public consumption. They don't want us to know how good the video really is.
US Airforce UAV Airstrike on insurgents planting IED in Iraq
Here we have what I presume to be a AC-130 hitting some targets seen through the eyes of a predator. This clip runs over 7:30, though the scene cuts away to a compilation about the 4:20ish mark. It's set to Highway to Hell and another AC/DC song that I can't identify. Music is nice, but I would rather hear the conversation. "Is that a weapon? Affirmative, sir I saw it. Are you sure? Yes sir. Do we have clearance to fire? Sir, we have weapons confirmed, are we clear to fire? Smoke 'em. ChChChChCh! Boom!"
Anyway, the AC-130 hits the van they are in then chases these guys all over the place making sure to get each last one. Aims a little off at times but A+ for effort. The clip runs 7:43. If you make it to the end, you are treated with an awesome billboard. C-130 and the Preadator, Highway of Hell...
