There is no War in Iraq. There is no War in Afghanistan. They are but two battlefields in a greater war, The Long War, and despite what others would have you believe:
When the enemy meets us on the field of battle, we kick their A**!
Very cool interview with a Canadian sniper as he describes the typical mission. It is most certainly not the 1.5 mile record holder as alluded to by the additional information for this one, but I suppose he might be. Either way, lethal enough. Runs 4:22.
Canadian snipers
The current record for longest range sniper kill is 2,430 meters (7,972 feet), accomplished by a Canadian sniper, Corporal Rob Furlong, of the third battalion Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry (3 PPCLI), during the invasion of Afghanistan, using a .50 BMG (12.7 mm) McMillan TAC-50 bolt-action rifle. This meant that the bullet had a flight time of ≈ 4.5 seconds, and a drop of ≈ 70 meters (230 feet).
Cool Sniper compilation war porn set to "Twisted Transistor" by KORN. Check out all the Barrets. One slide has some bad language on it, but it fits. Runs 1:58.
Here is a sniper slideshow set to "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. Nice to see so many Barret M107s in the hands of our troops. Runs 3:48, but cuts off the end of the song, slightly marring what otherwise is an excellent montage.
The M87/M107 Barret .50 Cal Sniper Rifle, the jihadis fear this weapon.
A half inch thick, nearly 1.5 ounce round that travels three times faster than the speed of sound. A very effective weapon in the fight against terrorism. Since it travels faster than the speed of sound, their buddy blows up before they even here the shot. Very demoralizing.
Since it has an effective range of 1500 m, our troops routinely hit targets nearly a mile away, while delivering a whopping 18 thousand joules worth of energy. 18,000 J is plenty to punch through a cinder block wall, and that's pretty handy for urban warfare.

And... If you want to see if the m107 can rip a man apart.... Go (here is your warning, do not check this out if you are in any way squeamish)... It starts right away, so, there is no going back once you click... here.
Some say it’s a fake, but I am going with, yeah, those are bodies flyin' apart.
